Why We Love Syosset, NY
About Syosset
Syosset is a hamlet and census-designated place in Nassau County, New York, United States, in the northeastern section of the Town of Oyster Bay, on the North Shore of Long Island. Syosset is an affluent suburb of New York City. The history of Syosset dates back to the 17th century when it was settled by the Dutch and English colonists. The area was originally known as Eastwoods, but was renamed Syosset in 1845. The name Syosset comes from an old Native American word for ‘place in the pines’. The community grew steadily throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, becoming a popular residential area for people working in New York City.
