Baldwin, New York, is a hamlet and census-designated place located in the town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The community is named after the Baldwin family, who were early settlers of the area and owned a large amount of land there. Baldwin’s history dates back to the 17th century when it was originally known as ‘Hick’s Neck’ after a local settler, John Hicks. It was later renamed ‘Baldwinsville’, and then shortened to ‘Baldwin’.
