What Our Customers Think
Why We Love Roslyn, NY
About Roslyn
Roslyn, New York, is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island. The area was originally settled around 1633 by the Dutch, and was known as Hempstead Harbor. However, the village did not start to take its present shape until the arrival of William Cullen Bryant, a noted poet and newspaper editor. He moved to the area in 1843 and began developing it into a suburban retreat for wealthy New Yorkers. The village was renamed Roslyn in 1844, after the Scottish town of Roslin, a place Bryant had admired. Over the years, Roslyn has maintained its historic charm, with many of its original 19th-century buildings still standing and in use today.
