What Our Customers Think
Why We Love Jericho, NY
About Jericho
Jericho, New York, is a hamlet and census-designated place in Nassau County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. The community is served by the Jericho Union Free School District. The area was part of the 1643 land purchase from the Native Americans known as the Hempstead Plains. The area was mainly used for farming until the 20th century. The name Jericho comes from the biblical city of Jericho in the Middle East, and its Quaker settlers drew a parallel between the biblical city’s destruction and their own community’s struggle for survival. The community’s growth has been steady since the 1950s, and it is now a thriving suburb of New York City.
